If You’re Looking For a No-Frills 55” LED/LCD TV Then Samsung UN55EH6000 is the One
As with our review on the 46” version of the same model, Samsung have again come up short with the overall poor picture quality. A shame really, as the Samsung UN55EH6000 price of $1000 - $1400 compares to its competitors and gains a huge favor. The picture quality when in a bright room is above average, whilst the video processing and accuracy and depth of its colours are laudable. Apart from the less than amazing picture quality, we also have to scold Samsung for not thinking about increasing their measly ration of just 2 HDMI ports. For this price, most of its nearest rivals cater substantially for Smart TV and other apps. Other features worth mentioning are the Samsung UN55EH6000’s 120Hz rate panel with a Clear Motion Rate (CMR) of 240, its Auto Motion Plus option which also features the dejudder, for fast-moving scenes, such as sports and its cool LED backlights. Don’t expect much more than this!Black is Black I want My Money Back!
Whilst with other Samsung models the black features within the picture quality are truly superb, with the EH6000 series, this is truly lacking. Maybe part of the reason is due to the Samsung UN55EH6000’s signature tune in its matte screen finish, which is a joy to observe, but clashes with the black colours on the screen. Side angle viewing, considering the absence of swivel on its stand, is decent to moderate, and you can notice the contrast fade at about 30 degrees, a discreet success.
Save Some Serious Money on Your Energy Bill
One area which has not been highlighted enough when referring to the Samsung UN55EH6000 is its energy consumption savings. In fact, you should expect to spend no more than $12 for the entire year, whilst enjoying the clarity of your TV.
Kings of the Edge-Lit Technology
Samsung have made edge-lit something of a phenomenon when it comes to LCD/LED TVs. Nowhere is this more accentuated than in the Samsung UN55EH6000. The LED backlight we have already referred to earlier is a nice touch and, after testing the white and black patterns, we found there to be only slight shadows which could be noticed just within the edges of the screen for the white and lighter spots when tested with black. The blue colour seemed to suffer most ever so slightly but not enough to hinder your viewing pleasure.
Whatever You Do – Don’t Mess With the Settings!
Messing with the settings of the Samsung UN55EH6000 is like playing with fire but how the heck are you going to do this without fiddling somewhat? Don’t forget we warned you not to mess with Samsung UN55EH6000 mojo!
No Wifi, No 3D – What’s Left to Offer Me?
Ok, we know we should have told you geeks this before, but do not expect to find many perks, such as wifi and 3D on the Samsung UN55EH6000. You do, however, get a smart-looking, perfectly workable TV set, which delivers great sound and colours and mediocre picture quality. That’s more than many 55” models we had the displeasure of reviewing! As with all of our reviews, we always say, stick to the basics and do only what you do best. In other words do not expect to go to a burger joint and find the best pizza! It just ain’t gonna happen! The Samsung UN55EH6000 specs for those that give a hoot are 9” x 49.2” x 31.1” and the set weighs 51.1lbs.
